How Soccer Has Impacted My Life

The sport of soccer has blessed me with so many memories and friends over my life so far. It is crazy to think how when I quit high school soccer that I was just going to stop playing. Instead, I was able to work extra hard and make a club team named LC Select. From there, I was able to win championships, earn scholarships, and become a better soccer player while NOT playing for my high school team. Even better, my teammates eventually became some of the best-est friends I ever had. Overall, I learned is there is multiple ways to reach a goal in life. My goal was to continue to play soccer and that what I was able to do. Nothing means greater when you and your best friends can beat your old high school soccer team in a indoor game.

  1. R.J., I relate to this a lot. After my senior year of high school soccer ended, I thought I would never play again. Then I got invited to play on a competitive indoor team at a YMCA near me, and it was a blast. I met a lot of great people, some of which I still talk to and play with. I also play intramural soccer here at Slippery Rock. Through playing intramural's I've met a lot of great people who are some of my closest friends.

  2. I feel the same way with baseball. I make a large majority of my friends through sports and I wasn't sure either if I would play again, but now I'm on the club team and are making more friends.

  3. Sports can be a truly amazing thing. I feel the same way about track and field. By being on my high school track and field team I was able to make new friends, learn how to win and lose graciously, and most importantly I learned what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. My coaches and teammates helped me to realize the importance of proper health and physical education. This post shows that sports are a huge influence on young children/adults, and help them build relationships and learn sportsmanship.
